Interview with Haunted By Angels VMU caught up with NY based Haunted By Angels!
VMU: Hey guys how's it going?
HBA: Great :-)
VMU: So your from NY? Who is the current line up?
HBA: Yep, we're based in Elmira, NY. Our current line-up is:
Jane Evil - Vocals
Andy Wheeler - Lead Guitar
Art McDermott - Rhythm Guitar
Pat Allyn - Bass Guitar
Dave Derrig - Drums
VMU: VMU only ask about live shows, gear and CD production so let's get that out of the way!
VMU: You guys just recently put out a CD, was this the only release?
HBA: "Season of Death" is HBA's first major release.
VMU: Where did you record and who produced?
HBA: The album was recorded at WiseMinds Recording Studio and was produced collectively by the band.
VMU: Was it done digital or analog? (if computer what programs)
HBA: The recording was done digitally using a Roland 24-Track VS 2480, mastered using T-Racks, and produced by DiskFaktory of Irvine, CA.
VMU: You have a very cool, old school metal sound (which I love) do a lot of people label you as gothic metal? What are your influences?
HBA: All music influences us! The main influence for each individual follows:
Jane: Queensryche
Andy: Dream Theater
Art: Kiss
Pat: Led Zeppelin
Dave: Metallica
Also, while people do tend to label us, we prefer they use only self-adhesive ones...LOL!
VMU: I saw the videos online from your web site! On "Fallen Angel" how long did it take for the video shoot and who produced? (optional) The lyrics to that song are very deep!
HBA: Thanks! The footage was shot in October 2003 at a live show at Lefty's Underground in Waverly, NY by the fine people at UMTV. Five cameras were used, and it was shot in DV8 format. HBA then edited and produced the video using Video Vegas and Adobe Premier.
VMU: Do you prefer live shows or studio recording? And do any of you have a home studio?
HBA: We love live shows!! The energy of the fans is an undeniable force. Andy, our lead guitarist, owns WiseMinds Recording Studio.
VMU: Could you guys tell us what gear you use live? (please in detail)
HBA: We use the following for our live shows:
Jane: Shure SM58 Mic and a custom 65lb steel sculpted skeletal mic stand
Andy: Fender CyberTwin Full Stack, Roland GI20 Guitar/Midi Interface, Korg Triton Rack Sampler, Fender Cyberfoot Controller, Morley Bad Horsie Wah, Boss GE7 Eq pedal, Morely Lil Alligator Volume Pedal, Custom Brian Moore C-90 "Dragon" (endorsee), Brian Moore i91.13, Fender American double fat strat, Deluxe Carve Top Tele, Ibanez RG770, Ibanez S1525 Custom.

VMU: How do you feel about the maintream and overseas music scene?
HBA: We hate the mainstream, and wish we could be overseas!
VMU: Could you tell us what the music scene is like in your city?
HBA: Well, there are many great musicians in our area, however there aren't many good venues, especially venues who are receptive to original music.
VMU: What are in the works for HBA? Any label releases or are you shopping around?
HBA: We're heading back to the studio to begin working on our next release, and while we have had several offers from labels, we have been unable to agree to the terms of the presented contracts.
VMU: Any tour schedules in the works towards California?
HBA: Are you offering? No, we haven't any in the works, but you never know what the future holds!
VMU: What was the worst experiance playing live?
HBA: WHALE GIRL!! A 500-lb fan who felt the need to flash the band repeatedly and attempted to win over the lead singer by doing "the Worm" or rather a vague semblance, on the dance floor....SCARY!!!!!
VMU: Thank you so much for your time! Any last words?
HBA: No last words, we never quit talking....
